How we check every question
RoadCite is a small, independent study tool. There is no content farm behind it and no scraped question dump. Every item in the bank is written in our own words, tied to a rule we can point to, and re-checked on a schedule. This page explains exactly what that means, so you can judge the bank for yourself.
Where the facts come from
Each question ends with a source line. Depending on the item, that line points to one of:
- a state driver handbook in force today (California 2025, Florida rev. 08/2023, Texas DL-7 rev. Jan 2026);
- a public statute · for example sections of the California Vehicle Code;
- a federal standard such as the MUTCD sign and marking rules, or agency safety guidance.
We quote none of these documents. The wording is ours; the fact is theirs, and the citation tells you where to verify it. That is deliberate: copied handbook text would be both a copyright problem and a worse study aid, because the test asks about the rule, not about a sentence.
The checks a question passes before it ships
| Check | What it catches |
|---|---|
| Answer-key audit | A correct option that contradicts its own explanation, or a numeric answer that does not match the source (limit, distance, time, fee). |
| Source check | A claim that cannot be tied to a specific handbook passage, statute or standard. |
| Original-wording scan | Any run of words that matches a source document too closely. Overlaps are rewritten, not hidden. |
| Duplicate scan | Two questions asking the same fact. The later one is rewritten onto a different rule. |
| Clarity rules | Two ideas in one question, "all of the above" padding, giveaway absolutes, and answer options that differ only in length. |
| Readability pass | A question a licensed driver could read in one go, with four plausible options and no trick wording. |
What we will not do
- We do not copy text from any handbook, question bank or exam.
- We do not claim to be an official test, and we do not use any DMV name or logo. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any state agency.
- We do not publish a question we cannot source, and we do not leave a known error in place because it is inconvenient to fix.
- We do not sell your data or run an account system. Progress lives in your browser.
When something is wrong
Corrections are treated as the normal cost of publishing. The path is short and it is public:
- You send the question ID (it is printed above every question) and what looks wrong.
- We check it against the source line on that question; if the source is ambiguous, we check the statute or a second handbook.
- If the fix is confirmed, the question is rewritten or the key is corrected, the bank is rebuilt, and the change is published.
- The change is recorded on the corrections page with the date and what moved.

How to read the dates on this site
"Reviewed" dates tell you when a page or a question set last passed the checks above. The bank is audited in full at each content release, and individual questions are re-checked when the rule they cite changes. If a handbook or statute is updated, the affected questions are rewritten before the next release.
Short version: our own wording, a real citation on every answer, a hand check on anything flagged, and a public log when we fix something.
